Hello!
We at Heck of the North Productions are sincerely missing the activities that typically occur this time of year. Final route scouts, cue card creation, stuffing packets at the kitchen table frantically before the big dance. My daughter said this morning that the weather felt like Heck of the North weather. I agree. But we are planning a robust 2021 season and will keep you posted as we progress. Hang in there!
Here are a few updates regarding this Fall:
Refunds for the 2020 event should be in the mail by the last week of September or earlier. It is a labor intensive process but something we feel right about. Thank you for your patience.
We will not be endorsing an event or providing cue cards for the 2020 Heck of the North. There are many reasons for this. If you choose to ride on the North Shore that weekend, please be courteous and great gravel cycling citizens. There are many other people enjoying this part of the world, too, in late September. Thank you for your cooperation!
We will be hosting a Heck of the North/Ride the Good Line Garage Sale on Saturday, September 12 in Duluth at our house. We want to clear out some product to make room for new designs. Hats, tees, hoodies, patches, stickers, and the last of the kits (jerseys, bibs.) Prices will be marked way down. Please stop by 1314 East 6th Street between noon and 5 pm. Please wear a mask and we will do our best to physical distance during your visit. I hope you can stop by!
Please feel free to email me at jeremybkershaw@gmail.com with any questions or comments.
Until then, Ride the Good Line,
Jeremy Kershaw and Avesa Rockwell
A friendly reminder to check your mail from UltraSignup (our registration partners) and make your selection for either a refund or roll over (to 2021) for The Heck of the North. There was a delay in sending this message and we apologize for that. We’d appreciate getting this information ASAP. Thank you again for your patience with this process. We are constantly adapting to our challenges!
Our Heck of the North/Ride the Good Line Pop Up Store closes August 16. Check it out here! Here’s one of my favorite pieces of RtGL gear:
All a person needs for Summer attire.
We are looking ahead to a Heck of the North Garage Sale sometime in September. We are also looking forward to some Heck related cycling adventures. Stay tuned for these here and on our social sites!
Ride the Good Line!

We have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Heck of the North. Due to current state guidelines, we simply cannot obtain the permits we need to run the event. We understand the reasons for these safeguards, and we are committed to promoting health among our riders, volunteers, and communities.
In the next few days, UltraSignup will email a query to each 2020 Heck registrant to select one of the following options:
Have your entry fee funded at 90% (the 10% will help cover costs and work time incurred so far this year and into 2021, as well as fees associated with refunds. Ultrasignup can only refund credit cards transactions that are fewer than 90 days old— all others will be issued by check and mail). We will also refund 100% of your tee shirt order.
Push your 2020 registration to 2021. This will reserve your spot at the same 2020 registration price.
All Flight registrants will automatically be refunded 90% of the remaining balance and 100% of the total tee shirt order.
Please make your selection before Tuesday, August 11, 2020, 11:59 pm. Those who do not respond by this date will automatically receive the 90% refund.
For those who have been gracious enough to offer their registration fees as donations to Heck of the North and Gravel for Good, thank you! UltraSignup’s refund process makes it difficult for us to accept your generous offer, so we will give you opportunities to donate to some exciting new projects next year.
In the meantime, please remember our amazing Sponsors when shopping in Duluth or the North Shore or Minnesota. We also have a cool new collection of Ride the Good Line hats, tees and accessories via our friends at Duluth Screen Printing. Check out the merchandise here.
We encourage you to Ride the Good Line with courage, wisdom and a healthy sense of humor this season. Thanks for your understanding and patience and hope to see you all soon.
Warmly,
Jeremy Kershaw and Family
